Leaf Sock

Look at the beautiful sock my mom is knitting my out of some of my hand-dyed! The pattern is from Interweave's Favorite Socks book. I can't wait until she is done!

Finally some closure

It feels good to get some of my many projects finished. This week I finished both Anouk and the open/closed sweater sign for the shop. Both projects were for the shop and so I couldn't relax until they were finished. Now I can go back to working on some of my older projects. My top priority right now is my lace Bonsai top. I finished the front today and cast on for the back. I think that the back will go a lot faster so, as long as I don't get too distracted, I think its very do-able for me to get it done in time to wear for graduation on May 21.

p.s. to see Anouk and the open/closed sweater in person just stop by the shop!

Exciting News

Like the title says, I have some exciting news to share. This summer I am going to be starting my own little hand-painted yarn business! It is going to be called The Painted Sheep and the website will eventually be at http://paintedsheepyarn.com (it doesn't exist yet though). This week I have been researching places to buy undyed yarn, getting a website started and beginning to experiment with the dyeing itself. I have dyed yarn before and got a real kick out of dying self-striping yarn, but now I am trying to be more creative and artistic. So far I have dyed one skein in Knit Picky inspired colors and another in greens and pink inspired by a photograph by Bonnie Berlin (the third picture). The green is still wet so the colors will actually end up a lot lighter than this photo shows. More pictures here.

New Pictures

This is going to be a busy week at school, unfortunately. Here are a couple of pictures of the progress I've made on Anouk, the Bonsai lace top and the Open/Closed sweater sign for the shop.
